You like wearing compression shorts, but would rather wear something less revealing when you are off the bike? This skort is the solution! Great for running, working out at the gym, tennis, at the beach... No wonder it is one of our most popular patterns in the activewear line.

  • Skirt with regular or narrow waistband (for low waist)
  • Attached briefs or compression shorts
  • Practical pocket in the side panel
  • The inverted V hem at the side make your legs look longer!

The briefs and compression shorts can also be made without the skirt.

Recommended Fabric

Knit with 60% stretch in the length and across the width

Great skort for Pickleball
I’ve made four skorts for pickleball—so far. I lengthened the hem of the skirt, side panels, and compression shorts to that of the largest size. I also further modified the pocket by lowering the opening to 3/4” above the notch, and deepened the pockets by sewing as close to the hem as I could. I’ve received plenty of compliments on my skorts and everyone falls in love with the easy access pockets. I can fit two pickleballs in each pockets. I will most definitely be making more of these. I have also worn the skorts after pickleball (errands, casual restaurants) and didn’t feel self conscious about being in activewear.

Fit is good unless you have dancers.
I absolutely love the hot shorts. I have made these multiple times. However I have recently noticed that a few of my dancers have complained about the tightness around the leg area, so I have been having to go up a size in the legs.
I always go by waist and hip measurements so I know I am not off with the sizing. I think if they are a very active person you are sewing these for I would go up a size in the leg area. The waist size is spot on though.

I love this pattern
I love this pattern! I wear my Jalie skirt on all my long runs because it is comfortable, stays put, never rides up, and I love the side pockets for my phone and keys!

Perfect running skort
Great directions and a fairly quick sew. When I first tried it on, I was skeptical that it would stay up for a run. But I was very pleasantly pleased when it stayed up for a ten mile run with no problems and no chafing! Love, love, LOVE the pockets - perfect for holding my phone, keys, and gels when I run. And the pattern fit well with no adjustments. Very pleased!

It is fast and easy to make and so comfortable that I want to wear it every day. I have my second skort cut out and ready to sew.

Not complicated at all! Very user friendly pattern. I made the skirt with the shorts, and I will make many more! I took it for a 5 mile test run, and it was supercomfortable. The shorts stayed in place w/o any elastic. : )

I've made two skorts so far, both with the hot pants. I'm a walker, so these are perfect for summertime. The side pockets are a brilliant idea and easy to sew! I really love this pattern.

Fun to make and wear
I've made 3 skorts. The first was a bit short for me, so I lenghtened the skirt. Good fit, easy to make.
