Fabulous pattern covering a huge size range
This is my second leotard, and I was not disappointed with the switch to Jalie. The pattern assembled easily, the instructions were clear and concise and the leotard went together beautifully!

Total success
This is my first leotard. I made one for each of my 3 granddaughters, sizes 4, 6, and 8 (which is their usual size and also what they take in the leggings). Perfect fit and everyone was very happy, including me! I found it quite easy to make the sleeveless style, I plan to try the long-sleeved one next.

Fantastic Pattern
I have made many leotards over the years for my competitive gymnast. I am new to Jalie patterns though. I made this leotard for my daughter. It turned out very well and fit nicely in the booty with no continuous "adjustment" necessary during practice. I did not have to alter this pattern in any way but want to share what I feel would improve this pattern. The shoulder straps seem slightly wider than necessary. I am going to make another leotard today and I will make the shoulder straps 1/2" narrower.

My favorite Leo so far
I have made several of Jalie's Leo, but this is by far my favorite one. The multiple pieces make it easy to use smaller quantities of each color, so I am not stuck with a lot of smaller pieces. My daughter has a long torso, so I had to give her more length. It was en easy fix, but you have to know what you are doing. This Leo has more coverage at the leg openings and the arm openings are lower, so there is no pinching.

Fit was perfect!
I buy my daughter a large (10/12) from the gym and did a size 10 on this one. The size is pretty much comparable. I don't need directions at this point in my Leo sewing so the limited directions don't bother me at all! I am a big Jalie fan

Best Jalie Pattern I've used so far
This is my 4th Jalie Leo pattern in the past 5 years. The others seem to fit too small, ride up the butt, have a short torso and the asymmetrical pattern let too much chest area exposed for comfort. I've also made several of the figure skating outfits too.
I made two today, each took about an hour - but I have my system down and have made hundreds of leos. I use a serger on the seams and elastic and a regular sewing machine when I fold over the hems.
This leo in particular: I measured my daughter's torso at 51.5 inches and made the size 11 or "O" My daughter said it was the most comfortable leo she owns. (out of about 15) No obvious riding on the cheekers, the shoulders are a bit wider and the elastic binding is preferable over the spandex bound style of another pattern.
The panels fit very nicely without fussing over them too much.
One minor issue on the side panel, Piece C, the lines on the squared end have two different letters and the letters on the triangle notches don't match the other side. If you follow the color of the line you'll come out ok. This is the reason for the drafting deduction in my review. Two tenths of a point would be a better deduction than a full point.
The girls at the gym like the printed spandex for comfort more than the mystique spandex.

So far, so good. We'll see what happens.......
I just purchased and downloaded this pattern and have to say I LOVE the color version! It will make tracing off the various sizes so much easier! As always, the directions are clear, but I always want more detail no matter how much is provided - that's just me. Sizing is usually easy with the multiple lines to pick from, but there's always tweaking to do and I can see that it might be an issue with this one. It might be easier to tape the fronts and backs together to do the fitting from one that already works and then cut the pieces apart again for the design. That's the main issue with the instructions with this one - so many pattern pieces for the main fit area with no "cheater" design line (i.e. under bust seams or skirt seams to adjust torso length, etc) and no fit help. I realize this is intended for advanced sewing enthusiasts but wow, a hint or two would be nice!
