Jalie 4239 is the first hoodie I've ever made, and I am so in love. The pattern pieces fit together perfectly. The instructions were easy to follow. The finished hoodie looks terrific.
Changes I made: I changed the hood from two pieces to three because I like that shaping better. I added 3/8" fusible tape to the slanted edges of the pocket, lower front, and inset pieces. I added 1/2" strips of fusible tricot to the center front edges before inserting the zipper. I added eyelets to the hood casing and inserted a drawstring.
The only thing I was unsure of while making the pattern was how I wanted to finish the top of the zipper/hood intersection. When the instructions are followed, the top of the zipper is finished neatly and is covered by the hood, but that leaves the neck seam allowance facing up. I wanted it to face down so I could stitch it in place from the outside. In the end I followed the pattern instructions and found that the seam allowance was soft enough that I could fold it to change directions. I was easily able to stitch over the neck seam allowance from the outside from one casing edge to the other.
Love the longer version. Easy to follow instructions.
