My granddaughter wanted this done in blue with the butterflies. I thought it would be more difficult, but with the tutorials and Jolie staff it was successful. She could’ve wait to wear it to gymnastics
This is a great basic leotard and biketard pattern! I used my Cricut Maker to cut out the appliqués, but the pattern comes with some templates as well.
I've made both the leo and the biketard in several solids and I find this pattern easy to fit and put together. It was my first Jalie pattern and was so well drafted and easy to make that I have purchased several more Jalie patterns and look forward to each new release. This is a great basic pattern for gymnastics/tumbling class.
I've never made a leotard or a biketard. I made the biketard 2 times for my 4 year old. When I was laying out the pattern pieces, they looked odd to me. The shape looked very manly as it had a broad chest and tapered in dramatically at the waist and through the hips. I went through with putting it together and indeed, when my daughter tried it on, the legs were very slim and the chest was too broad. It is wearable and I still made a second, but when we move to the next size I will be going up in length and bottom half only.
