Novice at leotards, but experienced with knits
I was nervous to sew this, as it was my first every leotard. I made 2 for my girls, who fit the smaller size range, and made adjustments based on their measurements. The fit was perfect and they were so comfortable, neither of my kids wanted to take the leotard off after checking fit! I love Jalie patterns, I feel I can trust the fit and drafting. The instructions tend to be more basic than a lot of the PDF indie pattern companies out there, but they are straightforward, and easy to follow IMO. Overall, as with every Jalie pattern I have tried so far, this was a reliable fit.

Good base pattern, but hip sizing is off
I have made this biketard twice. The sizing needs adjustments for the lower half of the garment.

I made a size U. For the 36 inch bust, the pattern allots approx 32 inches of fabric (approximately 10% negative ease) but for the 37 inch hip the pattern allots only about 30 inches of fabric (just over 20% negative ease.) I don't understand the why it is drafted that way, but I can tell you that I definitely need to add some more fabric at the hips to bring the negative ease closer to 10%. I also thought that the legs were a bit snug, so widening from the waist down should take care of this. (And yes, I did correctly sew in the crotch panel.)

Overall this was very easy to make. I lined the whole thing, added pockets for bra inserts in the front and have made some other fun modifications to it.

Good Pattern!
I am a very experienced seamstress. I liked this pattern but I did make a few modifications. My daughter has a long torso so I added an inch to the torso measurement. I do feel that so many sizes are unnecessary. I wish sizing was similar to the "big name" leotard companies (GK Elite, Alpha Factor, Under Armour). It would seem less confusing to a beginning sewer. I have now made many leotards for my competitive gymnast as well as for many of her friends. They all rave about the good fit. No matter which size I make, I cut the booty a few sizes bigger. The girls seem to like the fit and rarely have to "adjust" the leo down there.

Perfect! Love the fit on my daughter and appropriate coverage!
I actually came back to Jalie for the leotard because I purchased a swim suit pattern earlier for my daughter and loved how perfect it fit and the quality of the design. My daughter wants to do gymnastics and I bought a leotard from the store and the crotch was so skinny! How is that going to keep her covered tumbling around? I remembered how well Jalie's swimsuit covered, yet wasn't shorts. They just fit well. I was able to whip this outfit up and I couldn't ask for a better Leo!! Other plus' is the pdf and design options with the appliques AND techniques! I hate lengthy tutorials, just give me pics and get to the point, if I need a novel, I'll google for details :). Thanks!!

Biketard is great with adjustments
I have now made 6 in several sizes and have had to lengthen the crotch piece to get it to fit the leg opening. The legs are too tight .. perhaps because my child is muscular from gymnastics.. not for the reason suggested above they we are not inserting the crotch piece as it is meant to be.. a bit of a strange comment!! For the next one in size 8 ( child's measurement fit perfectly for the size ) I need to increase the butt area and widen the legs. I do line the crotch area with a lycra cotton . Every child is built differently so alterations are to be expected. My child is a tiny 9 year old with incredibly muscular glutes and thighs. The girls at the studio think she ahs the best outfits

Perfect basic leotard
I use this pattern repeatedly. Whenever I need a basic leotard shape i can rely on their sizing and do my own tweaks to it to make it a custom design. When our ballet studio put on Alice in Wonderland last spring I used it to make the basic leotard of our woodland creatures, with the dancers ranging all over the sizes having 22 sizes was an immense help!

great unitard pattern
I wanted a pattern for hot yoga with a bra insert. I wanted a one piece outfit and this pattern came closest to what I needed. I added lining powermesh and bra inserts. I had fun modifying this pattern and it was pretty easy to follow.

Short Torso, rides up
I usually make 1-2 sizes larger than street clothing size and had to extend the side seam near the leg opening about 1/2 - 1" and shift the leg opening closer to the crotch to get this pattern not to ride up. The elastic length worked fine with braided elastic, but knit elastic didn't recover well at all, even when I used a shorter length. The binding method is very good - it prevents the sparkly mystique from itching the skin.

wonderful and easy!
I was very nervous about making this, worried that the spandex would stretch too much etc. The directions were good and the biketard came together quickly. I will use this pattern a lot

Great Biketard pattern, perfect fit.
I made the biketard in size L for my daughter, who is a perfect L in width and halfway to M in height. Since I was using 4 way stretch cotton lycra, I just went ahead and made a size L with no change to length. They are perfect. They fit her exactly, sit on her comfortably and she is particularly pleased with the legs area, which gives her coverage but does not apply excessive pressure (as leotards with elastics do). I intended to use elastic at the neck and arms but then saw the pattern's method of creating a self-fabric binding in lieu of elastic and tried that. The instructions were easy to follow (I looked up a Jalie video explaining the technique, to be sure I'm getting it right) and the result looks very professional.
There is NO elastic involved, only lycra fabric, for the biketard.
I believe the people who complained that the legs are very tight might have tried to sew the front to the back directly and omitted the crotch piece. The crotch (on the biketard, not the leotard) is not just a lining - it is an insert that is stitched to the front and to the back pieces, respectively and increases the pants area leg opening size. Once the crotch piece was in place, the result was a well-fitting bottom section, made extra sturdy by the lining (in effect, giving a double layer between the legs).
I'll definitely be using this pattern for more biketards, and I plan to make the leotard my basic pattern for creating various designs of color blocked leotards for my daughter.

proportions a little weird
I have been making the sizes H thru L and the torsos seem short and chest is about an inch too wide on the front side of the pattern. The legs are too tight, I use about an inch more elastic than recommended and use two sizes bigger sometimes for torso length.

Leo great Biketard NOT
I love Jalie patterns & I really like this biketard in this pattern but the legs are just way too small. I have made 3 different sizes & the legs are all VERY tight. They lycra was stretched to the limit. I would give this 5 stars if the leg grade was corrected.

Pattern was very easy to follow
My fourteen year old daughter made two leotards from this pattern and did not have any challenges following any of the directions. The leotards turned out really good. This was the first time she ever made a leotard. When her teammate wore it to practice, no one believed my daughter made it. The pattern even arrived before the expected delivery date.
