First of many

Made these in CL in boxer length for my husband and he tells me they are really comfortable. They were very straightforward to put together and are a nice, snug fit on so I know that I will be making more of them. Next up - swimming trunks! Love that I can make items for husband, sons and grandsons all from the same pattern too.

Great pattern!

I’ve sewn this pattern many times! I added 2” all around the top and used 2” elastic. I also added another inch in the back and added a little extra curve in the pouch.

Great pattern

My husband wears his Gerald underwear 3 or 4 times a week while playing sports. I’ve made two views, mid-thigh and leggings, always with the horizontal fly. There’s no inner thigh seam chafing and thanks to the narrow seam allowance the curved seams fit together perfectly the first time. I customized the waistline by lowering the front and adding one inch of height at the center back, the extra height plus the exposed elastic provides ample backside coverage. I wouldn’t fault the pattern as this is his fitting challenge area and the reason why he gets custom fit underwear. For the first try sew on exposed elastic instead of enclosed elastic if you’re wanting a little extra height. The other feedback I received was that there was too much overlap on the fly making it difficult to use so I reduced how much it overlapped. This is a great pattern that will surely be used for years.

great for simple leggings

Straight forward pattern. Easy to follow with clever and comfortable placement of seams. I used to pattern to make athletic leggings to go under shorts.

Good Tights

The tights were easy to make and wear well except that the for me the back needs to be higher.
