Empire waist princess line dresses with an attached leotard. Great for a lyrical dance program
  • The skirt is slightly longer in the back
  • View A has a fully lined bodice with spaghetti straps
  • View B has a cross-over V neckline bodice and wide shoulder straps

Made without the skirt, this sewing pattern makes a great empire-waist leotard.

Great for dance, too.

Adapted this pattern slightly for an acro number for dance competition two years ago. Fit was great, directions easy to follow as usual. Love Jalie patterns.

Lots of Compliments

I made a variation of view B (skirt and inset of purple spark fabric with black velvet for cross-over bodice) of this pattern for my daughter for artistic roller skating and we have received many compliments on it. This was my first Jalie pattern and I found it very easy to follow. Will definitely buy more Jalie patterns.

Great dress

This was my third attempt at sewing a Jalie pattern. I liked the dress and as always, I find the patterns easy to follow. I experienced a bit of frustration when attaching the elastic, but that was my own fault! Once I figured out what I had done, it was smooth sailing from there on out.

I like the panel skirt and see a lot of potential in this dress. It would be easy enough to create a very unique looking dress for a variety of programs! I made the cross front dress and plan to make the spagetti strap version soon.

Versatile and great fit

Currently one of my favorite Jalie patterns! I have used this pattern as a base for a variety of related designs. The paneled skirt looks great on a variety of body types. It can even be left open part way up on the seams for a great effect.

Versatile

I love this pattern. I have made the cross over front with a black piece in the v section as I preferred it like that for a younger child. I have also made the spaghetti strap version using a circular skirt instead of the one provided as it was for a lyrical dance costume. I love Jalie patterns - so many sizes on one pattern makes them fantastic value and makes it easy to make it in a size that fits.
