I've made this dress 5 times now, I just adore it! My first one was in ITY, and I made two matching ones for my daughters. My 4th one was with ITY and stretch lace, and was a little tight in the arms because the lace didn't have quite enough stretch. My 5th, I used this amazing foil splattered performance knit, and it's SO MUCH FUN! You can read about my makes on my blog (auschick.com) -- link in my photos.
Very quick and easy. Really loved this dress. Made a couple with quite stretchy material, which worked better than the next one I made that was too lightweight to really hang well. But I will definitely be making more.
I am maybe at an intermediate level for sewing. I don't generally make apparel. I used this pattern for 4 dresses for little 3 1/2 and 4 year old girls. They must be tall and thin because I had to add length to each one but the formula for that is easy to do. I used 95% cotton 5% Lycra that I had to order online because our local stores carry too much Rayon and I don't care for the wrinkling of it. The cotton knit washes nicely. I used the serger for most seams. The pattern is so well planned and drafted that I made 3 of the dresses in a weekend and that included cutting the pattern and altering it for length. The only thing I couldn't do was print only the size I needed because I don't think the pattern is layered like some of the other patterns I've printed from Jalie. I would post pics but there isn't a way to do that.
I've made this dress several times for myself, my 9 year-old twins, their cousin, and my six year-old daughter. Every time, I'm impressed with the fit of this dress and the twirl of the skirt. This is one of my favorite patterns!
