This was my first pattern I've used where I needed tobprint and assemble the pattern. While not difficult, it did take space and time. It was definitely my most difficult sew, so far. I wouldn't call it a beginner pattern. I missed some of the traditional markings/labels on other patterns labeling the crotch and traditional lengthening/shortening places.
However, I was grateful for some previous experience and appreciated the instructions. They were mostly easy to follow, but when sewing the waistband onto the bib I felt like it was telling me to sew it backward. So I sewed it the way I thought made sense and I am happy with it.
It is definitely a very baggy cut. It would also have been good to know before hand hiw wide the overall buckles should be. I originally bought 1.5 inch, and felt like they weren't wide enough for the straps of the plus size overalls. I'd still make the pattern again, should I need another pair of dunagrees, because they are comfy. (I did make them extra baggy as an Elephant costume.)
I have made two pairs already, and am loving these overalls. I followed my measurements and made a size 22, but did have a baggy hip and obviously baggy legs. I took in the legs from the inseam and they look a lot cuter. I don’t mind the roomy hip as it is more comfortable and not meant to be skin tight. I used funny fabrics and have gotten a lot of compliments so far! Good basic overall pattern, easy to whip up in a day, easy to adjust to your dream pair. Next I’m going to try stretching it out and making a pair for my husband!
I made these for my daughter and they were just what I remembered wearing in High School. They came together beautifully and were fun to sew with all the topstitching. You'll want to size down if you are looking for a slimmer fit as they have lots of ease due to their "vintage" styling. I wish I had been sewing in high school and I would have made a dozen pairs!
This is a great pattern if you like the REALLY baggy look. Would love to see this pattern in a slimmer style more like what is popular today. Other than that it sews up beautifully !
I bought this pattern years ago and probably have made it 20 times in all sorts of sizes from Maternity to little girls.
