I have made the apron in two different sizes and they are both fabulous. The first was for me and I was impressed with all the inside finishes. The inside looks as nice as the outside. Jalie really went for quality here in the construction. The second apron was for a cousin and it turned out just as cute as the first one! I also love the headband and plan to make a lot more of those!!!
I love how this pattern has so many different options! My husband has been asking for a woodworking apron, so after he sent me some inspiration pics, I decided to mash the Orion with the Phoenix. I used just the Orion patch pocket section, and made it about an inch narrower so that it would fit in the bib section of the Phoenix. My husband also wanted a clip rather than a tie at the back, so I shortened the straps and added a parachute buckle. I have more details on my blog: https://auschick.wordpress.com/2018/11/26/great-gift-jalie-galaxy-2-woodworking-apron-mashup/
Made up the cosmos placemat to use as a travel playmat for the kids when out at restaurants or waiting around. The zippered pocket is great for stashing a few toys then rolling up and throwing in the diaper bag.
I always love how Jalie's steps and finishing make me look like a much more experienced sewer than I actually am. The final result looks so professional.
Will likely make a few more for gifts.
I made the Phoenix Apron for my nine year old daughter to wear when she's helping me in the kitchen - she loves the large pocket and how the straps tie at the back. I made three Pandora bowl covers in large, medium and extra small and they've already been put to great use for Thanksgiving leftovers. Finally, I made the Venus headband for the same daughter. Often headbands will slip off her head after a short time, but this one stays put and is comfortable and stylish.
I am IN LOVE with the Venus headbands that I’ve made. I love that the bow can easily be tied on or off to change the look of my headband. They make me feel like Rosie the Riveter (google her), in the best possible way. I keep a sewing themed fabric one in my sewing room to keep my hair in place while I’m creating.
I will be making my girls some for their stockings this year. They all love mine and keep asking for their own.
I will say, do not be a cheater and use bias tape for the Phoenix apron straps. I did, because I was feeling lazy. It’s just way to thin. Make the actual straps and you’ll be far better off.
