People often ask me what I would recommend, which patterns are my favorites... I decided to post them on a single page for everyone to see which Jalie patterns I wear all the time :)
Back to work with baby Henri

Henri was born on July 2nd. He weighed in at 9lbs 5 oz. and was 22" long.
He's now 5 weeks old and as you can see, he was very happy to come to work with mom :) (For those who are wondering, no, this is not a Jalie onesie but you'll see many Jalie outfits soon in this section!)
More pictures of new clothes and baby stuff coming soon (when I get some extra time (and sleep) and start working on my new post-pregnancy wardrobe).

35-week update - Self Portrait - The tunic is still on my Top 3 list :)

| Pattern #2793 |

It's stretched to the max, shows a little more cleavage than before, but it still fits!
Pre-pregnancy size, stretchy fabric, view A (with gathers and extra ease at lower front).
I should have made more of the view A version... :) |
More prototypes put to the test!

28 weeks - Last vacations before baby arrives!
I packed all my new tops and took some pictures to show you :) I used my pre-pregnancy size for the green top even though the fabric did not have more stretch than required because I liked the print and wanted to wear it next summer. It is a little snug and I won't be able to wear it for many weeks.
The pink one is stretchier and I think I will be able to wear it for at least another month. I used contrast fabric for the neckband, which looks pretty cool as it goes under the foldover.
For the pants, I altered 2000 a little. I lowered the front and put a wide elastic band with a casing that matched the main fabric color. I also widened the leg a little because I didn't want them to be too narrow at the knee. |
My favorite pattern for summer 2008

| Pattern #2804 |
Being a big fan of ruching, I can't have enough 2804 tops! I have it in the sleeveless and the cap sleeve options.
On the sleeveless top, I really like the adjustable ruching at the shoulder (optional on the pattern) that gives the top a very feminine look.
The version with ruching has a double-layered lower front (only the top layer is gathered at side seams). This allowed to experiment with different fabric weights for the under layer for a different feel. I used a heavier knit for one of the top under layers so my belly feels supported and contained, while the top layer keeps the original look and doesn't look tight at all.
For these tops, I only went one size up from my pre-pregnancy size (still smaller than my "real measurement" size) and lengthened at the hem. |
New t-shirts

| Pattern #2805 |
At 24 weeks, I was in dying need of new t-shirts. I was lucky enough to have "prototypes" of pattern 2805, our latest t-shirt pattern. One pattern, different styles: v neck, jewel neck, overlapped v-neck with decorative buttons (white on white, you can't see them on the picture) and mock turtleneck (the picture was not great so I didn't post it. My favorite sleeve lengths are cap and 3/4 sleeves, but short and long sleeve options are also included in the pattern.
I'm still not using my "real measurement" size with very stretchy fabrics. I only went up one size because I didn't want the shoulders to be too big. I lengthened all t-shirts by 2 1/2'' as usual to make sure they cover the pants waistband.
33-week update: still wearing the purple and green tops :) |
Employee(s) of the month :)

| Pattern #2788 |

Can you tell that I fell in love with this print? This is the twist top pattern that I made using my pre-pregnancy size (because the fabrics stretches a loooot) and there is still room to grow. I would usually sew the modesty panel (included in the pattern) to tops like that, but with my "new curves", there is no gaping! I might add the panel next year though (when the bust size goes down) :)
Minor alterations: I lengthened this top by 2 1/2'' like the 2787 below and raised the back by 10 cm (4'') or so (for a closed back) because keyhole backs are not the best during cold Quebec winters... |
My First Maternity Top!

| Pattern #2787 |
I'm 21 weeks pregnant and most of my regular tops are getting a little too tight and too short. I used a streeeeetchy fabric (twice as more stretch than what is required) to make the criss-cross top (that I plan to use for nursing). It took me about an hour and a half from cutting the fabric to the last topstitch - faster than driving to the store and find something that fits!
I used my pre-pregnancy size (T) and there is still room to grow. I lenthened the top by approximately 2 1/2'' to make sure my not-so-sexy maternity pants band doesn't show. I'm currently on a fun-knit-fabric hunt and plan to make many more of this one :) Oh! - I forgot to mention that I used the sleeve from 2788 because I wanted a regular 3/4 sleeve instead of a flared sleeve.
Now that I've seen how few options there are for cute and affordable RTW maternity tops out there for mothers-to-be who don't know how to sew, I have to rank this pattern/top as #1 gift for a pregnant friend, daughter or daughter-in-law, especially if the future mom plans on nursing. |
Tunic turned into a dress

| Pattern #2793 |
no gaping :) |
I lengthened the pattern to make a super comfortable dress, perfect for my little sister's prom cocktail!
I really like the neckline with the contrast bands (for unlimited color combinations!) and the panel that looks like a camisole underneath. Usually, I don't like wearing V-necks like this because they tend to gape a lot... but not this one, as you can see on the picture. I have 4 normal-length tunics with cap and 3/4 sleeves that I wear with jeans. I love them all! |
V-Neck Top

| Pattern #2682 |
This top is so easy and so much fun to make! Sleeveless, long-sleeved, lightweight knits, Power Stretch fleece... I love them all! |
Polo shirt

| Pattern #2562 |
You might recognize this shirt on the left from the pattern cover... The shirt on the right was made with cotton/lycra, has a cotton collar and stripes on the sleeves. Same pattern, totally different look! |
Racerback tank top

| Pattern #2565 |
I have to admit... I made 6 of them in different colors and fabrics. I like the sporty look and it's really easy to make. No elastics, no tiny straps to turn right side out... Two pieces, three bands... It's quicker to make one than to go to the closest shopping mall!

Tank Top with Lace Trimming

Racerback Top with Spaghetti Straps

| Pattern #2463 |
I liked the back of the 2463 (racer back with adustable straps), but would not co climbing with a cropped top... So I decided to lengthen it and used the original piece to make a shelf bra.
It was my first time sewing fold over elastic and I was pleasantly surprised... It did not take me nearly as long as I thought it would. |
Pants

| Pattern #2215 |
| I looooove these pants! I've had them since them came out in 2002. Yoga, indoor climbing, tae-boxe, 10k run along the St.Lawrence River... They are the best! |
